The fate of the next iPad Air remains uncertain as Apple already revealed new products including the MacBook Pro 2016 last week, but still missing from the bunch is the iPad Air 3. The Cupertino-based tech giant hasn't announced anything about the tablet but fans believe that soon enough, it will arrive.
It's been two years since the launch of the current model of iPad Air, the iPad Air 2. Apple fans have been eagerly waiting for a revamped version, which was expected to arrive in 2015. Obviously, this did not happen, and with no hints or official details about an update, it was feared that things are not looking so great for the lineup. However, according to several reports, the iPad Air 3 release will happen sometime in March next year and it will debut alongside the anticipated iPad Pro 2.
Rumor has it that the iPad Air 3 could feature an A9X chipset, the same machine that powers the more recent iPad Pro. The thin tablet could possibly have 4 GB of RAM that should keep up with the standard computing performance of today's devices. It was also speculated that the Air 3 model will have an eight megapixel main camera at the back, paired with a 2.1-MP selfie shooter.
The iPad Air 3 is also expected to be thinner and lighter, but more durable than its predecessor. A 4K screen resolution, and dust- and water-resistant features could also be some of the strong points of the next iPad Air.
Although there could be a possibility that iPad Air 3 will be launched in spring 2017, many believe that it would be the last entry to the series. Apple is rumored to give their focus to the Pro lineup more and release its updated versions in the future. Then again, all that's been said about iPad Air 3 is purely based on rumors so fans are advised to take them with a pinch of salt.
