'Batman: Arkham Origins' May Have Multiplayer [RUMOR]

There hasn't been a whole lot of information since Game Informer broke the upcoming Batman Arkham prequel, Batman: Arkham Origins, so as tends to happen, rumors and speculation has begun. The latest rumors claim that the game will feature multiplayer, and names some of the assassins Batman will go up against.

Kotaku is reporting that anonymous sources say the game will have multiplayer. The tipsters identities remain in the shadows like Bats himself, and with the game still in development and details limited, nothing is as of yet confirmed.

One of the sleuths is the same who let slip the game's actual title, as well as the game taking place during Christmas, so it seems plausible.

Kotaku also reports further details, including some of the would be assassins attempting to take out Gotham's caped crusader: "during at least one section of multiplayer, you play as a member of Joker or Bane's gang while trying to take down Batman and Robin. The villains involved-who may be playable and customizable-include Killer Croc, Deadshot, Firefly, Black Mask, Deathstroke, and 'some kind of Electroman character.'" Thus far, Deadshot and Black Mask's involvement proved to be true.

The characters are all big names in Batman's rogue gallery, and of them, we've only seen Killer Croc before in any of the Arkham games, though gamers never got their chance to really go up against him. Given that WB Montreal is sticking with a similar combat style popularized by Rocksteady in the last two Arkham games, multiplayer could prove to be interesting, but I fear that it might be a bit too sloppy, and rough to keep track of characters in the midst of a heavy battle.

We'll let you know if these rumors prove to be true.

Batman: Arkham Origins is set to release on October 25th, for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC.
