LastPass Offers Free For Mac OS X, Android, Windows; CEO Says Good Password Habits Should Be Norm

LastPass, the Password manager, has reportedly extended its free service in order to cover the numbers of internet-connected devices. Beginning today, the users can now manage all their account logins, including the ability to sync them over an unlimited amount of devices that run Mac OS X, Android or  Windows.

Until today, multi-device support has been off-limits to LastPass Premium, which is a paid-for service with family password sharing as well as encrypted cloud storage. Based on reports, this cross-platform service is also available to all new users immediately.

For those who have a LastPass account, the appropriate app their other devices must be installed to find all the logins synced automatically. However, the current premium subscribers will not notice any change.

LastPass CEO Joe Siegrist believes that by providing the service across every device, they are also making it easier for the users to make good password habits become the norm. In addition, this would also reset the expectations for a great password management experience in a multi-device industry.

Incidentally, LastPass reportedly experienced an embarrassing security threat last year, as attackers successfully breached its network, stealing password reminders, including account email addresses. Following this, the users had to update master passwords, yet LastPass immediately reassured that the password vault was not compromised, which means that the login details were protected, Tech Radar reported.

Meanwhile, free users of LastPass are set to get an early Christmas treat. According to reports, the popular password management service will include the multi-device access in the free package. Prior to this, founder and general manager Joe Siegrist also announced LastPass Free limited users to a single device that includes mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones, as well as the PCs.

An earlier iteration that limited the password manager's service package to PCs only, and mobile users had to pay for the premium. But with the changes provided, LastPass Free can now sync passwords on several devices, according to report. Watch the LastPass Tutorial here:
