'Microsoft Surface Pro 5' Release Date, News & Update: Device Confirmed for Early 2017 Release? Expected Features, Specs & Price Tag Revealed

Many fans of the Surface Pro device were disappointed when the tech giant did not unveil the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 during their October Event. With this, when can the fans expect the 2-in-1 tablet to arrive?

2017 Release Date?

With nothing official coming from the company itself, fans and experts are left to speculate on the actual release date of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. However, there have been strong rumors suggesting that the device may be coming early in 2017. The months of January and March are strong candidates among these reports, as the device is said to be released on Spring next year.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will then be launching alongside the Surface Book 2. There have also been rumors that it will be released with the all new Surface Phone. However, these reports must be taken with a grain of salt, as Microsoft is still yet to release an official statement or event invitation.

Specs and Price Details

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is predicted to be one of the most powerful devices that Microsoft will unveil. The upcoming 2-in-1 PC tablet will also be featuring the Surface Pen and the usual cover keyboard. The Surface Pen will then automatically charge itself upon attachment to the tablet.

The device will also be running the sixth-generation Intel Kaby Lake chipsets. However, there have been some reports claiming that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be powered by the Intel Sky Lake processors. There would also be at least two display options with different resolutions. One will have 2k resolution and one will have 4k. The Surface Pro 5 will also be sporting a whopping 16GB of RAM. As for the internal storage, there have been no confirmed news yet, but 128GB seems to be a favored option. USB-C ports would then be replacing the traditional USB 3.0 ports for faster charging and file transferring.

The predicted price tag of the Surface Pro 5 is expected to follow the pricing scheme of its predecessor. The base product will most likely retail for $899 and the highest end version will come in at $1,599.
