Call of Duty: Ghosts Powered By Next-Gen Engine; Tipped For May 1 Reveal [RUMOR]

UK super-market Tesco has been making headlines for the past week for listing the next Call of Duty title before the game was even announced, and now the retailer has revealed a product description of Call of Duty: Ghosts that mentions it will run on a next-generation game engine.

The next title in the military shooter series will be powered by a "new next-generation Call of Duty engine," the listing says (via All Games Beta).

"The franchise that has defined a generation of gaming is set to raise the bar once again with the all-new Call of Duty: Ghosts. Published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, the studio that created the original Call of Duty and the seminal Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series. Call of Duty: Ghosts ushers in the next generation of the franchise, delivering a riveting all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast, all powered by a new next-generation Call of Duty engine," the Tesco listing explains. The description, unsurprisingly, has been removed.

Meanwhile, a leaked GameStop display blueprint sent to retail stores says the game will be revealed next week. The leak makes sense, given that last year's Call of Duty was announced on May 1 during the NBA playoffs.

"A photo of a display blueprint provided to IGN suggests that promotional material is being distributed to GameStop stores on April 29 in order to be displayed on May 1st, likely alongside an official reveal," IGN reports.

Although Activision has yet to officially reveal the title for the next Call of Duty, recent retailer listings and many other leaks indicate that it will be named Call of Duty: Ghosts.
