Dragon Quest VlII: Journey of the Cursed King News, Updates, and Release Date Confirmed

The much awaited remake of Dragon Quest Vlll: Journey of the Cursed King was originally scheduled to be released in 2016. After almost a year of delay, the game is finally making its way to Nintendo 3DS with finally a confirmed release date January 20, 2017.

In a press release issued by Nintendo (via Neo GAF) Dragon Quest Vlll: Journey of the Cursed King will have updates such as Quick Save Feature allowing players to leave the game at will. There will also be a Speed Up Feature, allowing players to cut their way through encounters much faster. Notable updates also include a camera which will let players take photos outside of cutscenes and battles and then customize them with things like stickers and filters. Once a player meets up with the Cameron Obscura character, they will gain access to a codex that will reward them for taking photos.

Additional recent update for Dragon Quest Vlll includes ability to speed up battle animations, greatly reducing grinding and random encounters which is one of Dragon Quest series biggest issues. Updates in playable characters were also implemented increasing the playable characters from two to now six.

Dragon Quest Vlll: Journey of the Cursed King will also feature new story content. Including more of a backstory for the hero and an alternate ending. The new game scenes will be fully voiced by a different actor, as fans have noticed Dragon Quest Character Jessica voice has change compared to earlier versions.

In terms of musical score Dragon Quest Vlll kept the synthesized version of the Japanese Play Station 2 original, rather than keeping the orchestral recordings used in its English counterpart.

Dragon Quest Vlll Journey of the Cursed King also known as Dragon Quest Vlll: The Sky, the Ocean, the Earth and the Cursed Princess, Is a Role Playing Game (RPG) developed by Level-5 and published by Square Enix for the Playstation 2. It was released in Japan back in 2004 and in North America in 2005.
