‘Pokemon Go’ Latest News & Update: Niantic To Release Thanksgiving Event? Buddy Pokemon Requirements May Change

With the upcoming Thanksgiving season, "Pokemon Go" may receive another special update to celebrate the holiday. Latest reports hint of a potential Thanksgiving event that Niantic may unveil for its popular mobile gaming app.

Niantic recently completed its Halloween event where "Pokemon Go" players were given the chance to capture ghostly type monsters. With an increased reward matrix, the said event also allowed gamers to earn double the amount of candy bonuses for specific actions.

A source told Slash Gear that Niantic may introduce a similar event during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. It appears that game developers are ironing out the details of a secret "Pokemon Go" event. Development work is at its early stages and it is still unclear if the speculated gaming event will indeed be rolled out towards the latter part of November.

Similar to the mobile gaming app's Halloween event, the Thanksgiving event will also feature an increased candy bonus scheme. Avid players may also see a specific set of Pokemon monsters spawning at a higher rate than regular days. Some of these creatures include Spearow, Fearow, Psyduck, Golduck, Slowpoke, Slowbro, Ponyta, Rapidash.

Distance or walking requirements for the Buddy Pokemon feature may also be reduced. The same report highlighted a social media message that Niantic posted on its Facebook page that hinted of potential changes to the said gaming feature.

Posted on Nov. 2, the said message included a question that asked whether players are willing to go the extra mile for a Pokemon and if they earned a lot of candies. With the image of the Pokemon Dratini, the message appears to hint of Niantic's potential plans to retain some of the Buddy Pokemon requirements that it introduced during the game's Halloween event, as indicated in the same report.

In other news, Niantic recently deployed a new "Pokemon Go" patch that added daily bonuses to the mobile gaming app. Patch notes posted on the game's official website indicated how players can earn special bonuses for specific actions, changes in Prestige rewards and Gym features.

"Pokemon Go" update 0.45.0 and 1.15.0 for Android and iOS, respectively, was released on Nov. 6, Sunday. Learn more about the daily bonuses and other tips in the clip below:
