Free Comic Book Day 2013 Happening This Saturday: Publishers Giving Out Goodies

Everybody likes free comic books. And with Free Comic Book Day for 2013, which is on the first Saturday of May, arriving fast, fans can look forward to a lot of giveaways.

Free Comic Book Day is that time of the year when publishers are willing to give away some great material absolutely free. Well known creators also show up at certain comic book stores.

As always, there are boatloads of free comics to choose from and the official site has a list for what’s free this year. Big names like The Walking Dead, Superman: Last Son of Krypton Special Edition, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Infinity have all found places in this year’s list, while others include Mass Effect, Stan Lee’s Chakra, and The Tick.

As far as rating and choosing the perfect comic book is concerned, fans will be interested to know that the Superman special edition comic book – Last Son of Krypton – is actually a part of celebrating the 75th anniversary of Superman. Moreover, this issue will reprint the first chapter of Superman: Last Son.

The Walking Dead Special, on the other hand, is set to introduce a new short story featuring the highly popular character of Tyreese. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise will showcase the turtles new look, which is more kid-friendly, owing to the Nickelodeon cartoon’s popularity.

For fans of digital media, Comixology will be offering books on Saturday, with Comic Bin already offering a free three day trial of its Netflix-based subscription service.
