‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Episode 6 Spoilers, News & Update: Supergirl Meets The Guardian, Alex Struggles With Her Feelings In ‘Changing’

The upcoming sixth episode of "Supergirl" Season 2 will feature the highly anticipated appearance of the CW series' new hero, the Guardian. Latest spoiler news also teased of the challenges that await Alex given a self-realization that will change her life forever.

"Supergirl" Season 2 episode 6 will serve as the debut episode for James' (Mehcad Brooks) new vigilante alter-ego. Named as The Guardian, the new hero will play a critical role in helping Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) defeat a parasitic alien, according to episode spoilers posted on Comic Book.

Titled "Changing," the upcoming episode will also feature Alex's (Chyler Leigh) inner struggles given an important realization about her personal life. Supergirl's adoptive sister will try to come to terms with her sexuality, as well as her growing feelings for Maggie (Floriana Lima).

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Andrew Kreisberg shared that the said development will shock Alex and that episode 6 will feature a "big emotional breakthrough" for Supergirl's sister. Despite the emotional turmoil, the DEO agent will try to move forward with her life and take baby steps as she deals with her new situation.

When asked how Supergirl will react to Alex's new discovery, the executive producer stated that Kara will be "extremely open" to her sister's sexuality. However, the Man of Steel's cousin will also feel sad and may harbor guilty feelings about the situation. Kreisberg explained, "[Kara] feels like she created an environment in which Alex never felt comfortable discussing this stuff, so she laments that."

Meanwhile, the Guardian's upcoming appearance will also mark a new partnership between James and Winn (Jeremy Jordan) who will serve as the new hero's sidekick and tech support. In "Supergirl" Season 2 episode 5, viewers witnessed James' determination to play an active role in protecting National City, while Winn offered to create a special suit for his friend.

Given Kara and James' romantic past, the new CatCo head's foray into hero work will elicit an interesting response from Supergirl. In an interview with TVLine, cast member Benoist teased that viewers may be "surprised" with how Kara will handle her first meeting with the Guardian. However, the actress declined to share other scene details.
