Electronic Entertainment Expo is right around the corner and Sony is drumming up pre-E3 hype by teasing some next generation games. Sony's PlayStation 4 gaming console is expected to make an appearance at this year's E3. Meanwhile, Sony's SCEE Blog Manager Fred Dutton has announced that the company has some intriguing game announcements planned for this week.

"We've a busy week in the offing, with some intriguing game announcements planned," Dutton wrote in his regular weekly recap column on EU PlayStation blog. While the blog post did not elaborate on what can be expected from Sony, several rumors suggest that the game announcement will be Gran Turismo 6. The speculation is further solidified with the fact that the original Gran Turismo website is getting a makeover that relaunches on May 8.

Sony has a long-held tradition of announcing new titles in the weeks ahead of E3 to get some early exposure. There were several games that received this not-so-unusual pre-E3 treatment including last year's PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, God of War: Ascension, MotorStorm Apocalypse, LittleBigPlanet 2, Killzone 3, and InFamous 2.

However, other rumors suggest that the expected announcement can also be something on the recent trademark filed for The Order: 1886 or anything on PlayStation Vita or even PlayStation 4 games.
