How The Big Three Will Handle E3

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (a.k.a. E3) is right around the corner and it's time to see how Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony measure up against each other during the biggest convention dedicated to video games in the world. Will Microsoft hold take its lead into the next generation? Can Sony give a true reason to invest in a Playstation 4? Does Nintendo have a chance in convincing gamers to purchase a Wii-U?

Microsoft

Microsoft will be entering E3 less than a month after revealing the next Xbox on May 21.  With that in mind, expect the Windows 8 developers to build on whatever momentum is gained from the reveal. May 21's reveal will focus on the core functions of the console with a teasing of a few up-coming titles and E3 will be all about the key exclusives. This year's E3 will also have them transitioning from the Xbox360 to their next-generation. Expect Microsoft to give a final hurrah in announcements for the 360 releases while looking full steam. Microsoft's E3 Conference will take place Jun. 10 at 9:30am Pacific Standard Time.

Sony

Sony's gave a powerfully positive presentation last February that got many excited for the Playstation 4. Like Microsoft, the electronics corporation's gaming arm will be in a transition period. The Playstation 3 has a few big exclusives like Last of Us and Beyond Two Souls and its Playstation Vita is struggling against Nintendo's 3DS. There's no doubt that a bulk of their presentation will focus on The Playstation 4. Sony's E3 Conference will take place Jun. 10 at 6:00 PM

Success Rate Percentage: 90%

Nintendo

Nintendo is in an interesting place in the console race. The Wii-U is on the way to becoming an unsupported flop if left to third-party developers. It's quite clear that the success of the 3DS is keeping them in the hardware business by the looks of things. The goal of Nintendo will be get enough people excited about the Wii-U to increase the struggling console's user base.  If the user base increases, third party developers will wipe the dust of their development kits. In a surprising move, Nintendo won't be holding a press conference at this year's E3 according to a recent financial briefing.

Success Rate Percentage: 50%
