Much as I enjoy going to the movies, I don't really have the patience for each new theatrical Marvel release to try and piece together what they have in store for the Avengers sequel. Which is why I'm particularly excited for the quasi-Avengers spin-off show, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ABC recently aired a teaser for the show during the season 2 finale of Once Upon a Time. Nope, I didn't watch it either, so I missed the teaser too. But for your benefit, we've got it right here. Check it out below.

Unless you've been keping track of our coverage, you may be surprised to see Clark Gregg return as Agent Coulson. We explain that here, though I'm still holding out hope for that Vision scenario.

It'll be interesting to see if the movies will follow up on any possible plot threads or characters the show introduces, or if any of the Avengers actors make some sort of cameo (fingers crossed for Sam Jackson).

Alongside Gregg is Ming-Na Wen from ER as Agent Melinda May, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Brett Dalton of Killing Lincoln as Agent Grant Ward, and Nashville's Chloe Bennet as Skye. No sign of Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, though fans will see this particular S.H.I.E.L.D agent in the sequels Captain America: The Winter Solider, and The Avengers 2.

The series is co-written and directed by the famed Joss Whedon, who rose to prominence doing work on television, notably Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so it'll be nice to see Whedon return to his master medium. The series is set to air on ABC this fall.
