'The Last of Us 2' Release Date, Gameplay, News & Update: New Storyline to be Introduced? Ellie, Joel Not Part of Sequel
The development of "The Last of Us 2" is assumed to have started after a successful year of "Uncharted: A Thief's End." However, fans continue to search for answers as to when the sequel to the post-apocalyptic video game will release and what story it will tell.
Previously, Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann has confirmed that the team was indeed working on "The Last of Us 2" prototypes. However, the work had to be stopped because "Uncharted 4" came into the picture. The Nathan Drake-starred video game is expected to receive its next expansion in December, and that means that Naughty Dog could turn their focus toward "The Last of Us 2." It remains to be seen if development for the game has really started, but game analysts believe that Naughty Dog is already working on it.
As for the game plot, latest reports suggest that "The Last of Us 2" might not bring back protagonists Joel and Ellie. The sequel will reportedly have a different storyline that will not involve the two characters from the previous game. However, as reported by GamenGuide, that doesn't mean that the Joel and Ellie storyline will be completely scrapped from the plan.
Rumors about an imminent release of "The Last of Us 2" are also getting stronger after Naughty Dog confirmed the release of "The Last of Us" remastered for PlayStation 4 Pro. In a blog post, Senior Communications Manager Scott Lowe wrote that the game can now be played with better resolution on the newer console. Lowe said that the remastered version "allows you to choose whether you want to play in the game's original target framerate of 30 frames per second at 2160p or at a high targeted 60 frames per second at 1800p."
With confirmation that Naughty Dog has added "The Last of Us" support for PS4 Pro, it should be a worthwhile game to play while waiting for more updates on "The Last of Us 2." Get the latest news only here on GamenGuide.
