Need For Speed Movie Shooting Now In Georgia

The movie adaptation of Electronic Art's Need for Speed has begun filming in Macon, Georgia. The project, announced almost an year ago, will reportedly use the downtown area as the backdrop. The Need for Speed movie will star Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul alongside one-time Batman Michael Keaton.

According to local news channel 13MAZ (via Polygon), filming began at a local car wash with multiple streets in the vicinity being closed over the next few weeks. Other prominent names associated with the film include Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter's Dominic Cooper, recording artist Kid Cudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Imogen Poots, Harrison Gilbertson and Rami Malek.

The movie, produced by DreamWorks Studios, tells the story of a local street racer who ends up in prison after getting into a partnership with a wealthy business-minded colleague.  The protagonist, punished for a crime he didn't commit, eventually escapes from prison and vows to avenge the person who framed him. Upon the main character's prison break, the storyline leads to a cross-country gauntlet from New York to Los Angeles.

The film is directed by former stuntman Scott Waugh and is slated to be released in March, 2014. Meanwhile, it's rumored that Swedish studio Ghost (formerly EA Gothenburg) is working on a new Need for Speed video game.
