Ronda Rousey - Amanda Nunes face-off at UFC 205 weigh-ins

As if the first ever UFC event in New York City couldn't get more hype, the leading MMA promotion brought in their other megastar at the tail end of the UFC 205 weigh-ins.

After headliners Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez left the stage, Joe Rogan called out the main event contestants for December's UFC 207, treating the Madison Square Garden crowd with former UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey's first official appearance for the organization since being knocked out by Holly Holm last year.

Ronda Rousey faced off with current women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes for an intense stare down in front of the raucous Garden crowd. It was the first time UFC fans saw Rousey for an official UFC function since November last year.

They would not hear from the face of women's MMA though, as shortly after the brief face off though, Ronda Rousey was gone just as quick as she stormed off the stage as Joe Rogan was about to interview Amanda Nunes. The two explosive fighters duke it out for the title on Dec. 30 at UFC 207.

The UFC women's bantamweight title has changed hands twice since Ronda Rousey lost to Holly Holm in Melbourne at UFC 193. Holly Holm failed to defend the title, losing to Ronda Rousey rival Miesha Tate at UFC 196 via a last minute rear naked choke in a fight she was thoroughly dominating. A few months later at UFC 200, Meisha Tate got a taste of her own medicine, getting choked out by Amanda Nunes after taking a string of powerful blows from the Brazilian dynamo.

Ronda Rousey's return has long been the subject of speculation with everyone from fans and the media, to casual MMA observers wondering when and if the former undefeated fighter would ever return to the octagon. UFC 207 is set for Dec. 30 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
