Marvel Reveals Two New Infinity Covers

Ever since 2011's Fear Itself, it's hard to think of a time when Marvel isn't doing some sort of huge event with their comics and characters. Avengers vs. X-Men put a significant dent in the Marvel universe last year, and the current Age of Ultron series is doing the same.

If you thought you'd be able to catch your breath in between Marvel events, you were wrong. This August, Marvel will be launching another major storyline titled Infinity, which will find the heroes of the Marvel universe in a desperate struggle to stop both Thanos and an intergalactic species known as The Builders.

The publisher has already provided several teases of their major events, most recently with some eye-catching cover art. Newsarama has a sneek peek of two covers of Infinity #1 by Adam Kubert and Arthur Adams. Kubert's take on the Infinity #1 cover is a solo shot of the ever-menacing Thanos, depicting the villain in black and blue tones. Adams' version will surely appeal to Avengers fans, as it shows off the likes of Captain America, Hulk, Spider-Girl, and more in outer space.

Fans got their first taste of Infinity on Free Comic Book Day last week, when Marvel provided a complimentary prologue to the series. This six-issue saga will be taking place on two fronts: While the heroes of Earth prepare for Thanos' looming takeover, Marvel's space-ready warriors will be taking the fight to the galactic builders.

"The universe's greatest serial killer is cut loose to do bad things to our most precious world," Writer Jonathan Hickman tells USA Today in a March preview.

The release of Infinity comes at a strategically smart time for Marvel, as the end of last year's Avengers film revealed that Thanos would be a key villain in later movies. On top of the newly launched Thanos Rising comic, Infinity will help readers learn more about the nefarious space drifter before he inevitably shows up in Avengers 2.

You can look for Infinity #1 at your local comic book shop sometime in August. With the stakes higher than ever in the Marvel universe, will you be jumping in to this multi-issue tale?
