'Grand Theft Auto 6' Release Date, News & Update: 2020 Launch Confirmed? Female Protagonist, New Maps, VR Support, More Game Elements Coming

When Rockstar Games announced that they are working to release "Red Dead Redemption 2" in 2017, fans were torn as the development of "Grand Theft Auto 6" would surely take a hit. The previously expected release date for the action adventure and crime game was at 2018, but now, it looks like this is unattainable.

As the company's main focus for now is "Red Dead Redemption 2," the production for "Grand Theft Auto 6" will take the back seat for now. However, a 2020 release date is more feasible for the latter. This is still good news though, as Rockstar Games had previously mentioned that the game is in incremental stages of development.

As of yet, the only clear thing is the direction where "Grand Theft Auto 6" is going. There have been no confirmed locations or setting yet. For the game's development, "Grand Theft Auto 6" has undergone only the preliminary production stage.

Despite this though, there has been no shortage on the rumors regarding "Grand Theft Auto 6." One of the most glaring rumors is the inclusion of a female protagonist this time around. There would also be a new map for players to explore. Other game details have also been hinted through the DLCs of "Grand Theft Auto 5."

One key feature rumored to be included in "Grand Theft Auto 6" is the VR support. However, virtual reality integration may still be reconsidered, depending on the hype for the technology in the next few years. The new technologies in the latest consoles from Sony and Microsoft could also be included. This includes, but is not limited to, 4K and HDR support in "Grand Theft Auto 6."

Despite having 2020 as the most feasible release date for "Grand Theft Auto 6," fans are still hoping for an earlier release date. However, as the game developer and publisher are still preoccupied with "Red Dead Redemption 2," updates for the "Grand Theft Auto 6" production will most likely start coming in by 2017.
