Rainbow 6: Patriots Pre-Orders Removed From GameStop Database: What’s Up With Ubisoft?

Something’s wrong with Ubisoft. Ubisoft’s upcoming FPS title Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots has been officially removed from GameStop's retail database, according to a report. The game, currently, is no longer available for pre-order.

While nobody is drawing any sort of conclusion here, the title's removal from the database could suggest that Patriots, first announced in November 2011, may have been wholly cancelled by Ubisoft.

Usually, some retailers tend to automatically deactivate database entries after a long period of time, but according to IGN a source close to GameStop has claimed that the retail company "actively flipped a switch" to eliminate the title from their system.

According to IGN, GameStop rarely deletes big-name titles from major publishers without official confirmation that the game has been cancelled. On top of that, it’s also pretty rare for GameStop to remove a listed game that appeared on the cover of its Game Informer magazine.

Commenting on the current situation with Patriots, a Ubisoft spokesperson said: "We have nothing further to share about Rainbow 6: Patriots at this time." Maybe there will be something to it at the upcoming E3.

Back in June, Ubisoft had confirmed that the game is still in active development when senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key was asked why Rainbow 6 didn’t make an appearance last year’s E3.

“Let's just say that Rainbow 6 is still in active development but what we decided was that the best thing for the brand was to not bring it to the show right now,” Key said at that time. “We have a lot of other games that we want to focus people on and there will be more information on Rainbow coming."

Patriots’ PC version was said to be the first Rainbow Six game since Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 that would not be using Epic's Unreal Engine 3.
