Riddick Gets A Re-Boot Starring Vin Diesel [TRAILER]

The official full length trailer for the third installment in the Chronicles of Riddick series simple titled Riddick was released this week reflecting a tone more in line with 2000's Pitch Black than its 2004 sequel The Chronicles of Riddick.

Riddick will have Vin Diesel reprising the series' famous anti-hero who has been left for dead on a desert planet where he finds himself fighting for his life against alien predators.

Film series writer and director David Twohy will helm this entry with Karl Urban reprising his role as Vaako from The Chronicles of Riddick. Joining the cast will be Jordi Molla, Katee Sackhoff, Matt Nale, Dave Bautista, Conrad Pla and Keri Hilson among others.

According to Diesel's official Facebook page, the New York native sacrificed a bigger up-front pay day in order to get Riddick a hard R rating.

"D T the writer/director just landed in New York with the good news. We can start filming this summer. However, there is a catch... In order for us to make a true R rated film, I must work for scale upfront. Not unlike the "Find me Guilty" experience (which I wouldn't have changed for the world)..."

Opening in both IMAX and theaters on Sept. 6, Riddick is an addition to a busy year for Diesel. Diesel is set to star in the sixth installment of the Fast & Furious 6  next weekend which will serve last Justin Lin's last film in the series since Tokyo Drift. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly he says it was gratifying to have Universal back both films.

"Universal has placed it in a way where they're feeling so confident about the movies, they're defining the beginning and ending of the summer with these two movies," says Diesel. " They're gonna start the summer with Fast 6 and they're very deliberately going to end the summer with the guy that ends everything, with Riddick."

Fast and Furious 6 opens in theaters May 24.
