"Gears of War 4," the big sequel everyone is waiting for in the franchise, has finally been out for Xbox One and Windows. The hot take about its sales figures is that while it's objectively done the worst numbers in the entire franchise, it's still managed to crush its projected numbers.
The world now knows how "Gears of War 4" did in its first week. According to Win Beta, The Coalition's newest offering moved 617,000 units in its first week alone for both Xbox One and PC, as purchasing the game lets you play it on either platform. At this rate, if 617,000 copies were good enough to beat its initial projections, then the bar must have been set low for its release.
Since its release, The Coalition has been offering new content for "Gears of War 4," including patches to dissuade cheaters and new playlists. One such notable high-profile playlist includes hip-hop duo Run the Jewels, comprised of Killer Mike and El-P, according to GamenGuide. Run the Jewels lent their likenesses and voices to the game, and they were chosen because of the "sense of brotherhood" that they exuded. Other than that, The Coalition has been keeping on a steady stream of downloadable content full of customizable gear and skins for players.
The Ultimate Edition of "Gears of War 4" is also available, reports MS Power User, for $59.99. The nice stuff you can get in the Ultimate Edition includes a nice collectible SteelBook and a Season Pass for all the downloadable content in the game. Players who buy the Ultimate Edition also have access to the entire "Gears of War" back catalog.
"Gears of War 4" is, again, available for the Xbox One and PC. If you don't have it yet, be prepared to download huge updates and patches once you fire it up.
