Ouya's E3 Booth To Be In Convention Center Parking Lot, Open To Public

Developer Relations head for Ouya Kellee Santiago sent an email to many developers working on the console saying that its presence will be felt outside of the Los Angeles Convention Center at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

By outside, Ouya's booth will be in a parking lot directly across from the Convention Center's South Hall.

"OUYA will be present for all three days of the event, and we'll provide everything you need to put on a killer game demo," says Santiago in the email. "You'll be able to demo your games to media, E3 attendees and random people on the street who want to see what all the buzz is about. We're going all out to ensure we get the best equipment, and we're also engineering it with the elements of an outside location in mind."

Interested developers can showcase their work at Ouya's booth by registering before May 28.

The Android-based console has come a long way from kicking off its Kickstarter campaign to getting the support of more than ten thousand developers like Square Enix. Available June 25 for $99 at major retailers including GameStop and Best Buy, Ouya will not only come with a standard controller but developer toolsets in order for users to create their own software.

Ouya isn't the only developer straying away from E3 traditions. Nintendo is skipping its annual E3 press conference and will partner with electronics retail giant Best Buy for an open preview of Wii U games making an appearance at the famed trade show according to reports. The Mario developer said in an announcement that they'll focus on smaller events.

"At E3 this year, we are not planning to launch new hardware, and our main activity at E3 will be to announce and have people experience our software," Nintendo said in a statement. "We will use E3 as an ideal opportunity to talk in detail mainly about the Wii U titles that we are going to launch this year, and we also plan to make it possible for visitors to try the games immediately. As a brand new challenge, we are working to establish a new presentation style for E3."
