Marvel’s “The Inhumans” TV Series Is Happening; Will First Premiere In IMAX

Marvel Entertainment and ABC have announced their plans for developing "The Inhumans" as a television series, premiering the first two episodes in IMAX. The standalone series will move forward with the lore already established in the series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." rather than start from scratch. ABC has previously developed shows with Marvel, a few of which including "Agent Carter" has been cancelled, with some not even getting past the development phase ("Marvel's Most Wanted" and "Damage Control", for instance).

The new series will "explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the Royal family." For the uninitiated, Inhumans are an extraordinary type of species that came from another planet. The Inhuman Royal Family is originally comprised of Black Bolt, Medusa, Karnak, Gordon, Triton, Crystal, Maximus the Mad, and Lockjaw.

"The Inhumans" was originally meant to add to the MCU lineup, but had to be nudged ahead in schedule due to Sony folding and sharing the "Spider-Man" movie rights with Marvel. Now that Marvel and ABC is reteaming for the series, "The Inhumans" will likely find its home in the small screen. Granted, ABC's "Agent Carter" has failed to find a big enough audience and had to retire, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is slowly finding a stable footing in terms of ratings and critical reception. The IMAX premiere should also add to fan curiosity.

It is worth saying that only time will tell about the success of "The Inhumans" between Marvel and ABC's collaboration. But what do you think? Is this a recipe for a redeeming success? Or for a complete disaster? As always, you can drop your thoughts in the comments below and there start a discussion.
