Battlefield 4 Confirmed For Xbox One, PS4; Launching On October 29 For Current Gen Consoles

Electronic Arts has announced that its upcoming gruff soldier shooter Battlefield 4 will launch on Oct. 29 for the current generation hardware and will be available for early adopters of the next-generation gaming consoles - the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 - this holiday season.

EA made the announcement through its official Facebook account and said the given released date is for the current generation consoles including Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The publisher said the next-gen versions of the game will arrive sometime this holiday because Microsoft and Sony have yet to announce exact release dates for their new consoles. The Frostbite 3-powered game will not be available for Nintendo's Wii U.

Players who pre-order the game will also receive Battlefield 4's China Rising DLC at no additional cost. The recently announced first expansion pack is set in the Chinese mainland and offers four additional maps and new vehicles.

DICE, the developer behind the Battlefield 4, says it will announce the game's multiplayer mode with a live demo at "The Download: EA 2013 Preview" press conference on June 10th. The publisher will offer a hands-on experience for its fans at the event.

Meanwhile, EA has published box art for Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game on its official website. Although these pack arts are just placeholders or EA mock-ups, they do give a first look at next-gen software packaging.
