The Simpsons Springfield Coming to Universal Studios Florida

The Simpsons hometown will be coming to Universal Studios Florida. Springfield will be coming to a themed area in the park. Universal Studios Florida's Springfield will feature rides and many of the locations found inside the cartoon town. At the heart of the area will be the Simpsons Ride. The ride was first introduced in 2008 as a replacement for the Back to the Future ride. Universal Studios ride uses computer animated graphics and hydraulic-powered seats to take visitors on an adventure with the Simpsons family.

The Simpsons area will include fully built landmarks of the show. Famous locations from the show such as Moe's Tavern, Krusty Burger, and the statue of town founder Jebediah Springfield will be created for the area.

"This new expansion will broaden and deepen the already incredible experience at Universal, by bringing to life the iconic landmarks of Springfield that fans have grown to love," says Jeffrey Godsick, president of Fox Consumer Products, in a statement.

"Fans will literally be able to live and breathe Springfield as they visit the statue of Jebediah, enjoy a Krusty Burger, and have a seat at Moe's Tavern, which are just a few of the great experiences awaiting at Universal."

As part of the attraction, Universal Studios Florida will serve beer and food found in the from the show. Duff Beer will be sold exclusively at the theme park. Food items from the show will also be featured throughout the fake town.

The Simpsons home studio, Gracie Films, are supporting the theme park area. Executives from the company say the town is built perfectly to reflect the spirit of the show. They say it is an honor to receive the theme park treatment from Universal Studios Florida.

"It has been an honor to bring the world of the Simpsons to life in such a letter-perfect way," says Denise Sirkot, president of Worldwide Brand at Gracie Films. "Truly this is the Krustyest place on earth."

Universal Studios expects to unveil Springfield sometime this summer. The theme park has often partnered with media properties to bring fictionalized worlds to life. Last year, the park opened a Silent Hill themed maze to its Halloween events.
