DJI Phantom 4 Pro News, Updates & Specs: Now With New 60 FPS 4K Video Capability!

Drone enthusiasts and hobbyists have a lot of choices to go for now more than ever in 2016. With offerings even from manufacturers like GoPro, how do you choose the best drone to go with? The deliberation will be even harder now that DJI will be putting out the Phantom 4 Pro, an upgrade on their flagship Phantom 4 drone.

PCAdvisor reports that the new DJI Phantom 4 Pro's big hook is that it'll be able to take 4K ultra high-resolution video in impressive 60 fps with a 20 megapixel camera and a 1-inch sensor. The manufacturer doubled down on their semi-pro drone line instead of making more affordable, entry-level models.

In addition to the increased video capability, the Phantom 4 Pro also has increased obstacle avoidance and maneuverability thanks to the new FlightAutonomy system. It's an awesome navigation system using infrared sensors, and it allows the Phantom 4 Pro to fly around obstacles up to 98 feet away in front of and behind it. Plus it even avoids landing on rough terrains, such as rocky ground or water, to avoid damage to the drone.

The DJI Phantom 4 Pro is even smart enough to stop you from losing it. If it loses its GPS signal, it automatically travels back to the last spot it tracked a signal, hovering around while it waits for another command from you. The navigation is even more nuanced, as you can draw an exact line with your finger on the controller's display which the drone will follow exactly. It's nothing short of amazing.

There's a whole host of awesome new features that the DJI Phantom 4 Pro comes with, but those are the most standout specs so far. It's now available to order over on Amazon; it's very expensive at $1,499, but there's a reason it's a Pro model.
