World's thinnest gaming laptop, Razer Blade, ready for preorder

For that rare combination of hardcore gamers with skinny arms, your time to rejoice is at hand. The world's thinnest laptop for gaming, the Razer Blade, is now set for pre-orders.

At .66" thin, the Razor Blade sure lives up to it's name, but while it is indeed thin and light in weight, the price is anything but. The cheapest model you'll find is the 128 GB version, which will set you back $1,800. Though, maybe price isn't something you're too concerned with, in which case you can go with the 512 GB model for $2,300. On the plus side, if you go with the more expensive models, you'll save yourself some shipping time. Both the 512 GB and 256 GB models ship in 2 to 3 weeks, while the 128 GB version can take 4 to 5 weeks.

Whichever model you prefer, you can order it from Razer's official website here.

The Razer Blade is meant for gaming specifically, illustrated by what the computer has in hardware, so don't shell out the big bucks if you're just looking to do some Excel spreadsheets, and not pop in a game or two. The Intel Core i7-4702HQ Quad Core Processor with Hyper Threading 2.2GHz / 3.2GHz (Base/Turbo) coupled with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M (with dedicated 2GB DDR5 RAM) are more than enough to keep the latest games running. A 14-inch screen may be a bit smaller than what most gamers prefer, especially if you're used to looking at a giant desktop monitor, but that's part of the trade off that makes the Blade sleek and lightweight at a mere 4 pounds.

An early review from
CNET may leave some ultimately wanting a bit more: "BioShock Infinite ran at 47.1 frames per second at native 1,600x900-pixel resolution (UltraDX11), and 91.4fps at 1,366x768 and medium graphics settings. The more demanding Metro: Last Light ran at 16fps at 1,600x900 resolution and high graphics settings. In short, so far it doesn't seem like Blade isn't the fastest gaming laptop around, but it handles mainstream games nicely."

All in all, it looks like it should get the job done, but keep in mind that Razer is advertising Razer Blade as the world's thinnest gaming laptop, and not necessarily the best or the world's most powerful.
