'Pokemon Go' Latest News & Update: APK Update 0.47.1 Introduces Ditto & Shinies; Different Ways To Catch Them In The Wild? [GAMEPLAY]

World phenomenon "Pokemon Go" remains one of the top games of 2016, despite dwindling playership and slowed momentum since its record-breaking launch in August. Despite this, Niantic Labs continue to line up several surprises and tricks for its avid fanbase in order to keep them interested.

One of these new updates and features is the release of the changeling monster Ditto, the introduction of shiny Pokemon as well as Gen 2 Pokemon, which reportedly launched alongside "Pokemon Go" update 0.47.1. How can players get their hands on these new Pokemon? Here's everything you need to know about "Pokemon Go" updates and new features

Ditto arrives in 'Pokemon Go'

Despite being a Gen 1 Pokemon, Ditto has been noticeably absent from the initial versions of "Pokemon Go." Fans of the Pokemon would know Ditto as a morphing Pokemon, able to take the shape and move set of its opponent Pokemon in battle.

However, iDigitalTimes reported that the changeling Pokemon can now be caught in the wild and used in "Pokemon Go" battle, although it would appear that it can also be caught in some other way apart from wild encounters. It's also expected to arrive alongside Gen 2 Pokemon from the Johto Region, which includes starter Pokemon Chikorita and Cyndaquil, among 100 others.

Shiny Pokemon

A more important addition to "Pokemon Go" is the introduction of Shiny Pokemon. The Silph Road reported that the words "Shiny" and "Rare" have begun to appear in the game's APK, although there have been no reported sighting of the rare Pokemon yet. Shiny Pokemon are known for their higher stats as opposed to their normal monster counterparts. Stay tuned for more updates on "Pokemon Go."
