Sega has some good news for all PC gamers out there. As reported, Sega has finally made the Company of Heroes 2 open beta live for all the fans of the franchise.
The open beta for the game consists of Company of Heroes 2’s multiplayer mode, alongside competitive and co-op play on as many as six maps. The open beta will also offer access to the first 45 levels of the game's progression and bulletin system.
"We have been working hard since the closed beta balancing and improving all areas of the game as well as adding new matchmaking servers. COH2 has had one of the most successful beta programs we've ever run at Relic and the support of the fans has been a critical factor in making the game more balanced and stable for launch," said producer Greg Wilson.
Fans will be able to retain all the progress they have made and unlocks earned in the open beta if they buy the game within the first 60 days of launch and also play it on the same Steam account as the beta.
Alongside, Wilson has also stated game has officially gone gold and this means that “the disc version of the game is now complete and has been sent off to the factory for replication.”
“One of the many benefits of the PC platform and digital era we live in is our ability to continue tweaking and balancing the game right up until launch in what's commonly referred to as a "day 0" patch. The team is cranking away tirelessly to add the final layer of polish and squashing as many bugs as possible before it's released into the wild.”
Company of Heroes 2, which is set for a worldwide release on June 25 for PC, will showcase the Soviet Red Army as a new faction and will transport the player to the various events of the Eastern Front campaign, ranging from Operation Barbarossa to the Battle of Berlin.
The game has been built on Relic's proprietary Essence 3.0 engine and will focus on the Eastern Front campaign that will be narrated via the flashbacks of Lev Abramovich Isakovich, a Soviet Army lieutenant, who has been locked up at a gulag in Siberia in 1952. Isakovich tells the story as an Army officer interrogates him about his experiences during the war.
