Georges St-Pierre Return, Rumors and Updates: GSP to Bellator?

The hottest rumor nowadays in the MMA world is the return from retirement of the greatest welterweight of all time, Georges St-Pierre. The former pound per pound king has already announced his intention of fighting again earlier this year.

He was expected to headline UFC 206 in front of his home town crowd in Canada. But with the problems in contract negotiations with the UFC, Georges St-Pierre's current employer whom Georges St.-Pierre is still under their contract, the return of the fighter is indefinitely delayed.

The contract disputes stem from the recently new owners of the UFC the William Morris Endeavor-International Management Group. The Reebok deal which forbids fighters from wearing and modifying their gear allowing use of only Reebok apparel is also an issue On Georges St.-Pierre who is sponsored by Under Armor.

With talks of Georges St-Pierre and the UFC at a standstill, with his lawyers claiming that talks have failed, Georges St-Pierre might have to look for other options outside the UFC in which he himself stated.

These other options might include Bellator as Georges St-Pierre was in attendance during Bellator 165 which features Benson Hederson and Michael Chandler as the event's main fight. St.-Pierre was also pictured alongside, heavyweight great Fedor Emelianenko, training partner and current Bellator fighter and former UFC fighter Rory Macdonald.

Another picture from Georges St-Pierre also featured the fighter with former UFC fighting Chael Sonnen with an inscription thanking Bellator and Chael Sonnen for inviting Georges St. Pierre to train on a Bellator Cage.

Could this be a sign of things to come? Will Georges St-Pierre follow along the footsteps of several UFC fighters who have been displeased with the company and sign to Bellator? Despite the contract issues, Georges St-Pierre still wants to resolve things with the UFC and its new owners.

Georges St-Pierre is scheduled to meet with the UFC and the William Morris Endeavor-International Management Group next year to renegotiate a new contract. The UFC is still the best MMA regardless of Bellator's popularity.  But if the talks prove to unsuccessful, Georges St-Pierre might decide to sign under Bellator.
