Call of Duty: Ghosts coming to Wii U as well... really?

The Call of Duty: Ghosts for Wii U saga marches on undisturbed, and this time it takes a whole new direction. If the current reports are to be believed, Infinity Ward’s next biggest Call of Duty project will indeed be heading over to the Wii U.

While the game was already announced for next generation consoles like the Xbox One from Microsoft and Sony’s PlayStation 4, there was no mention of the Ghosts arriving to the Wii U from Nintendo. All this, of course, happened at a time when it was also reported that Nintendo was going through dark times with the company’s struggle to introduce notable titles on the console as well as shady relationship with several third party developers.

Basically, Nintendo’s engine was running but there was no specific direction for the company to take.

As a GameSpot report shows, executive producer Mark Rubin, in an interview, stated that the idea of Ghosts for Wii U is still on, although more details on this will have to wait for a while.

“Right now we’ve only announced current-gen and PC, [which will release on] Nov. 5. Wii U is probably in the next-gen bin. We’re not actually talking about Wii U yet because we want to keep it mysterious,” Rubin stated when asked about the platforms Ghosts will be available on, and when it will release.

As a matter of fact, most Call of Duty fans and others who have been following this development carefully would actually be surprised if the latest Call of Duty title didn’t arrive for the Wii U, owing to the fact that all its predecessors have already made a mark on the Wii U in the years past.

Although we might take into consideration the performance of last year’s Black Ops 2 on the Wii U, which, needless to say, was a total mess, the company still hasn’t lost belief on porting another Call of Duty game to the Wii U.

When the Ghosts was not in contention for Wii U in the last few months, there were major speculations that Infinity Ward didn’t want to approach a Ghosts port for Wii U, following the performance of Black Ops 2 on the console, even though it would have been a potentially easy money move.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is currently scheduled for release on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 (and probably Wii U) on Nov. 5. The game is also set to be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at a later date.
