General Zod coming to Injustice: Gods Among Us as fourth DLC character

Longtime Superman nemesis and villain of this summer's "Man of Steel," General Zod will be the fourth DLC character for Injustice: Gods Among Us. The character was revealed through one of Conan O'Brien's "Clueless Gamer" segment earlier this week. You can actually see Zod on the character select screen at the :56 mark just below Lobo. We've also embedded the YouTube clip below, starting at the point where you can get a better look at him.

For non-Conan viewers, NeatherRealms studio head Ed Boon confirmed the news via Twitter, saying, "Yes, General Zod is the 4th DLC character in INJUSTICE !! Next week we are releasing a game-play video that demonstrates his unique moves!"

Doubtful that the character needs any explanation at this point, but for argument's sake, like Superman, General Zod was one of the few remaining survivors after Krypton went kaput. As General, Zod led the Kryptonian military, but tried to lead an uprising against the planet's ruling body, attempting to convince Superman's father, Jor-El, to join him. Jor-El refused, and Zod went on with his bid for control, but was ultimately stopped. He swore revenge against Jor-El and his family. While Superman was sent away on a space ship before the planet's explosion, Zod and his followers had been exiled to the Phantom Zone, were they were kept safe from the planet's destruction, and eventually escaped.

As a fellow Kryptonian, Zod boasts the same powers as Superman while under Earth's yellow sun: super strength, speed, flight, etc. While Superman may have more experience with his powers at this point, as the former leader of the Kryptonian military, Zod has the advantage of strategic planning, tactics, and leadership.

Zod is expected to hit Injustice: Gods Among Us some time in July. Pricing details have yet to be released, but if he's anything like the other DLC characters, players should be able to download Zod for $4.99. He may or may not be included in the game's Season Pass.

No word on that Flaming C skin though, but keep your fingers crossed.
