Studio Ghilbi's Hayao Miyazaki To Make Animes Until He Dies

After the revered animator Hayao Miyazaki announced his retirement from making films, the entire anime world was saddened.

But hopes went up when Miyazaki accepted projects with his home animation studio in between his brief retirement. In fact, his newest project with Studio Ghilbi was just recently confirmed this month.

This, according to previous reports, has raised expectations from anime fans asking whether or not Miyazaki will be returning in the anime world for good. As it turned out, Miyazaki's newest project-"Kemushi no Boro" (Boro the Caterpillar)-won't be his last, the Anime News Network reported.

After officially announcing Miyazaki's return to the storyboard, Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki confirmed that their renowned animator will be making anime for the next years. In fact, Suzuki said Miyazaki would be making animes until he dies.

It can be recalled that the "Kemushi no Boro" was supposedly a 12-minute short film that turned into a feature film. It was reported that Miyazaki was not satisfied with how the short CG turned out, hence the decision to make it into a full-length feature film.

Ghilbi's newest film is expected to be completed by 2019, ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic. It was previously reported that the short CG would only be shown Studio Ghilbi Museum. There still no confirmation on the screening details of the feature film, as of this posting.

Miyazaki is best known for his prominent Ghilbi projects, including the Laputa: Castle in the Sky; My Neighbor Totoro; Kiki's Delivery Service; Porco Rosso; Princess Mononoke; Spirited Away; Howl's Moving Castle; Ponyo; and The Wind Rises.

The 75-year-old animator noted that it would take him five years to complete the feature film, which makes him 80 by the time its completed. But pressure is on for one of Ghilbi's pillar to finish his newest film after taking a brief rest.
