Bethesda already confirmed how to get a free upgrade of Skyrim Special Edition on Steam provided that PC users provided that they already have the original Elder Scrolls 5 and all post-release DLC. However, users would be able to upgrade when they purchase the original game after the remastered version is released but the DLC pack has to go along with it.
"You don't get it if you only buy the base game. Only if you get the game and all DLC," Hines explained. The Express reports that on Twitter, Hines dropped hint that Skyrim and Fallout 4 mod are possible to become available to PlayStation 4.
"We can't get into specifics. We still want to get mod support of some kind out on PS4," he replied to a fan's inquiry on Twitter. After the talks between Bethesda and Sony broke down, mods were dropped from Skyrim and Fallout 4 on PS4.
Hines declined to provide details on Twitter but Bethesda said in a statement that Sony will not approve user mods the way they should work. "Like you, we are disappointed by Sony's decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive," Bethesda stated.
Nevertheless, Bethesda said it's an important endeavour and that it will find ways that user mods would be available on PlayStation. Moreover, Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition features all contents from the original game alongside post-release DLC.
It also includes the Dawnguard expansion and questline, the Dragonborn add-on that has a brand new location and the Hearthfire home improvements DLC. Bethesda, however, ruled out the new DLC.
Another new addition is the mod support on Xbox One and just like the Fallout 4 mods, these can be downloaded on consoles once they're published online. However, transferring saves from Xbox 360 to Xbox One or PS3 to PS4 is not possible.
