BioShock Infinite DLC inbound this July

Finally some much needed confirmation for the highly anticipated BioShock infinite DLC. As reported, Irrational Games has confirmed that the upcoming new BioShock Infinite downloadable content will be revealed late this July.

The new content for Irrational’s highly rated FPS title will also mark the first expansion that’s set to be released as part of the previously revealed BioShock Infinite season pass, available at launch, and will arrive with a total of three DLCs overall. The game's "Columbia's Finest" DLC was recently made available as a separate download on Steam.

The confirmation for the DLC, via IGN, comes after Irrational head Ken Levine, last week, said the studio is still working on the content, and also noting at the same time that they “have been [working on it] since the game shipped.” Levine also stated that “things are going well,” while asking fans, at the same time, to stay patient as “game development takes time.”

“DLC Update: We are working on it- have been since the game shipped. Things are going well, but plz understand: game development takes time,” Levine wrote.

While at that time there were no further details available for the DLC, a new content bundle called "Columbia's Finest" was released for the game on Steam. Columbia's Finest (available for $5 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC) includes all the goodies of the Industrial Revolution Pack and the other Upgrade Pack that originally came as part of BioShock Infinite's Songbird Editions. These contents include 500 Silver Eagles, five lock picks and six unique items of gear.

This is also the first real information for a long awaited DLC to BioShock Infinite after it was hinted back in April, according to a senior employee at 2K games, that the DLC might feature a new AI companion.

As revealed by Michael Shahan, senior animator at 2K Games, on his LinkedIn page, he was the primary animation resource for the Bioshock Infinite DLC. Shahan is responsible for providing animation planning and management for the project. The animator’s CV showed that he's been "providing animation and R&D for a new AI companion character" in Infinite.

The details, of course, were later removed by Shahan from his page.
