New Prince of Persia title unveiling due next week?

How long has it been since we got our hands on the last ever Prince of Persia game? And while we looked all set to entirely forget about the franchise, a new report has recently popped up stating that a whole new Prince of Persia game might be arriving soon, with details about it set to arrive next week.

The news was teased on the game’s official Facebook page with the company promising new information in the upcoming week. As the page states, fans are set to get news about Prince of Persia next week. And while we aren’t really sure if Ubisoft is teasing a new iOS game or a proper, next-gen sequel for the massively popular franchise, but whatever it is, it is expected to be big.

The official page states: “Get ready for some news about Prince of Persia, starting next week...”

However, not all thinks that the game will necessarily be tipped for a console and PC release, as according to Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, the new title will come in form of a mobile game announcement.

“Don't get too excited about that Prince of Persia Facebook tease: Ubisoft tells us it's a mobile game,” Schreier wrote on his Twitter page.

As mentioned earlier, while we can’t be sure about the nature of the game until some new information arrives, it will still be interesting to see what Ubisoft is planning for its dedicated mass of Prince of Persia fans.

The news, interestingly, is also in tune with a previously leaked image on the Internet that arrived almost a year ago. While the image was making round on the Web, it was also rumored to be directly out of a new Prince of Persia title.

As expected, Ubisoft did not comment on that image, and so it is to be seen if the image was really out of the new game or was it just a fake that time around.

Previously, according to an IGN report, it was also revealed that Ubisoft had decided to take a break from the Prince of Persia franchise while the company was considering new ideas for the future.

“I'm not scared at all for Prince of Persia fans,” Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat said at that time. “We'll find something to entertain them with in the future. Prince of Persia is part of Ubisoft's portfolio. As a matter of fact, we sometimes iterate on franchises and sometimes we give them time to breathe and time to grow, or time to rest. Prince of Persia is as important as any other franchise for Ubisoft. As soon as we have something to show, we will.”
