'Street Fighter 5' DLC Release Date, News & Update: Akuma Not Part of Upcoming DLC; More Tournaments, New Stages, Characters Are Coming?

Capcom's "Street Fighter 5" is one of the most sought-after titles in the video game market right now, so it comes as no surprise that the studio would want to keep supporting this installment until 2020. This means players can live to fight another day--or in this case, another four years--to enjoy in-game add-ons, features, updates and more as the studio aims to host more tournaments than ever before.

But while that all seems fine, Capcom had debunked rumors that Akuma will be appearing in the "Street Fighter 5" DLC, much to the dismay of many fans who have anticipated his appearance in the Capcom game. Given that, however, what can fans expect out of "Street Fighter 5" over the next years?

More tournaments, new stages and characters

According to a report from Gamespot, executive producer Yoshinori Ono discussed the importance of increased support for "Street Fighter 5" especially as their end goal is to solidify the game as an eSports arena. This means that they will be focusing on bringing in more tournaments to host to lure more players into the game, which would further bolster their sales and decide their future projects. That's why it's important, Ono said, that they be able to plan well ahead--thus, the continued support until 2020.

More than that, players of "Street Fighter 5" can also expect new stages and new characters for the tournament. This is because Capcom decided to ban the latest stage, Skies of Honor, from the game. Instead, fans can expect a new stage and new playable characters for the upcoming tournament season, one of which was supposed to be "Raging Demon" Akuma.

Akuma not part of 'Street Fighter 5' DLC playable characters

However, reports are now circulating that Akuma may not make it in "Street Fighter 5" DLC. EventsHub reported that Ono and the team never actually confirmed that Akuma will be part of the game. Hopefully, however, the studio will change their mind about that.
