‘Overwatch’ News, Speculations and Theories: Who's The New Character?

“Overwatch” was a large success even before the game came out. It had sparked the imagination of fans and followers into creating a lot of fan art and speculation on different theories. With the game’s release things have not gone any calmer and have actually escalated. Here are some of the more interesting concepts shared on the web.

If you have ever wondered who the new character in “Overwatch” will be, Red Bull might have the answer ready for you. Rummaging through maps, comics and the internet’s rumors they have gathered a list of possible candidates and Liao happens to be one of them. He was one of the original “Overwatch” members, but nothing more is known about him. Back in the early days of the organization he played a vital role in it and afterwards, disappeared, or at least no information about him has been shared.

Another possible candidate is Doomfist, the gauntlet for which the characters fought over in the release trailer of “Overwatch” is the same one used by various different crooks over the years that have used it to rain terror upon the world. The gauntlet is rumored to be strong enough to bring down a skyscraper with a single blow.

While still on the wave of speculation, Polygon has shared a trending theory that has taken about fans of the game. This is the theory of Phara’s parents. According to their article, there is a high chance of Pahara being the daughter of Ana and Reinhardt. The explanation for this theory comes from the fact that each character has specific themed rare skins. D.Va’s are based on fruits, Zenyatta has elements. Ana’s rare skins are jewel themed and Reinhardt’s are metal based. Phara’s rare skins are two jewel based and two metal based. This has sent fans into speculation that the rocket launching heroine is the daughter of the two “Overwatch” members.

From theory to fact, Blizzard’s store has released the second “Overwatch” collectible statue. The lucky character this time is “Reaper”, caught in the motion of using his “Death Blossom” ultimate. The statue is 12 inch high and costs $150 a piece, where only two statues are allowed per customer. Sales of the collectible will be released in two waves Wave 1 – Q1 2017, Wave 2 – Q3 2017.
