FC Barcelona News: Paris Saint Germain Won’t Take Advantage Of Neymar’s Legal Case To Sign Him

Patrick Kluivert, Paris Saint Germain's director, confirms to Journal du Dimanche that PSG will not use Neymar's legal situation to their advantage to lure him from Barcelona.

Paris Saint Germain has tried to sign up Neymar before, regardless of the Brazilian star's $264M release clause from Barcelona. Nasser Al-Khelaif, the president of PSG, even went so far as to personally meet him and his father. When Neymar renewed with Barca, PSG wasn't deterred and there were reports that they would make another attempt to sign him up again next summer.

But Neymar is currently involved in an ongoing legal case with Spanish tax prosecutors seeking a two-year prison sentence and a $10M fine for the Barcelona striker. If his legal woes end up troublesome enough to prompt a transfer away from Barca, Paris Saint Germain is one of the few clubs that can shoulder the transfer fee that Barcelona will demand for him. Kluivert has made it clear that they are not going to exploit the situation to sign him up though. "Could Neymar's legal issues be an advantage to us? To be honest, what is happening to him is a real shame. We are not going to try to take advantage of this case."

While Kluivert remains keen to sign up rising stars to Paris Saint Germain, he emphasizes that the team is more important and goes on to say that "It is nice to have a star player but the team remains the most important thing. So, if it is possible, I will never say no if there is a chance to sign a star but I will not force it at any cost."

Going from Kluivert's comment, it seems that the supposed attempt for PSG to have Neymar next summer might not take place at all given the situation.
