‘Harry Potter GO’ Release Date, News & Update: Niantic, EA Games, Supercell & Sony Fighting Over World of Witchcraft & Wizardry [GAMEPLAY]

If reports are to be believed, Niantic is in its last stages of developing the "Harry Potter GO" augmented reality game. This is going to make all Potterheads go crazy. With speculations and rumors running haywire all over the Internet, fans are now eager to know when in 2017 Niantic would release the "Pokemon GO" inspired game.

Rumors suggest that Niantic has reportedly acquired the rights for the "Harry Potter GO" game app and the development of the game is in full force. While "Pokemon GO" makes its players catch monsers using PokeBalls and PokeStops in its augmented reality setting, the Harry Potter game will immerse players into the world of witchcraft and wizardry.

Niantic was left with few words when nearly 40,000 Harry Potter fans signed a petition asking the company to make a "Harry Potter GO" on the same lines as "Pokemon GO." Niantic was taken aback by the overwhelming response. The "Harry Potter GO" trailer was released by Stargaze Media and can be viewed here.

However, latest "Harry Potter GO" reports suggest that the contract for the latest offering is still under negotiation as there are many other players who want to develop a Harry Potter game and that include Sony, Supercell and EA Games among others. It's not going to be easy for game developers to get the rights for developing a Harry Potter mobile game, writes Travelers Today.

Whoever gets to develop the "Harry Potter GO" game will have to consider multimillion dollar contracts between Warner Bros and of course J.K. Rowling. Both are considering proposals from Niantic, Sony, EA Games and Supercell. However, with the release of "Fantastic Beasts," it seems Niantic will be finally preferred over others.

When the hype surrounding the "Harry Potter GO" game started accumulating steam, Niantic had little time in its hands as it was too busy with "Pokemon GO." Now that the game is the most-played game in the mobile kingdom, Niantic can look to release the "Harry Potter GO" game in the first quarter of 2017, if it gets the right to develop it.
