‘Gran Turismo Sport’ Release Date, News & Update: ‘GT Sport’ Prepared For PS4 Pro, PS VR; Thrustmaster T300RS Released Before Game

Racing game fans may need to extend their patience for the release of "Gran Turismo Sport" as the game has been delayed to 2017. But it might just be good news after all because reports the delay is due to Polyphony Digital's plan to optimize the game for PlayStation VR and PlayStation 4 Pro.

In a post found at Sony PlayStation Blog, it was revealed that Polyphony Digital president creator Kazunori Yamauchi is hard at work to explore the full potential of the latest console, PS4 Pro. "Gran Turismo Sport" requires a powerful engine and so players can experience races that are "smoother, slicker and more vibrant than they've ever been."

Yamauchi and his team initially planned for "Gran Turismo Sport" to be available this November. However, he admitted in August this year that the game won't be ready yet. In a post via PlayStation Blog, Yamauchi said that the team needs more time to make sure "GT Sport" comes out perfectly. "We do not want to compromise the experience in any way," he wrote. Fans thought it was just right for Polyphony Digital to delay the game to make sure the game won't be a big disappointment.

Meanwhile, Thrustmaster just released the T300RS racing wheel and pedal set that can be used to play the upcoming "Grand Turismo Sport." There are other brands that are compatible with PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, but according to Tom's Hardware's review, the T300RS offers more advanced features. The wheels can be interchanged and the whole set is also compatible with other accessories such as hand brakes. This should improve the overall experience with "Gran Turismo Sport."

The Thrustmaster T300RS GT Edition is now for sale at $400. Currently, it is the best offering from the company but you might want to hold back on that purchase if you plan to use the wheel and pedal set for "Gran Turismo Sport." Thrustmaster is cooking up something that is comparable to the T500RS, which is only compatible with PC at the moment. This will launch just in time for "Gran Turismo Sport's" release.
