Tom Holland To Star in Y.A. Post-Apocalyptic Thriller “Chaos Walking”

Lionsgate's upcoming young-adult post-apocalyptic thriller, "Chaos Walking", may have just found its lead actor. Tom Holland, fresh from his debut appearance as Spider-Man in the Marvel blockbuster "Captain America: Civil War", is in negotiations to play the principal character for the upcoming film. He joins Daisy Ridley, who had been cast months before.

Based on the young-adult bestseller written by Patrick Ness, "Chaos Walking" is "set in a dystopian world where all living creatures can hear each other's thoughts in a stream of images, words, and sounds called Noise." On top of this, a strange, fatal germ wipes out the entire female population of the world. Holland's character, Todd Hewitt, is a young man who discovers a spot unaffected by the Noise and consequently becomes on the run from the authorities. The reason for the silence is a girl named Viola (Ridley).

The project is undoubtedly expensive, what with the involvement of two currently prime names. But that doesn't end there. The adaptive screenplay is written by "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" screenwriter Charlie Kaufman and "Money Monster" screenwriter Jamie Linden. Doug Davison ("Mena") will co-produce the film with "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" producer Allison Shearmur.

Doug Liman, who directed the time-bending Tom Cruise-starring action-thriller "Edge Of Tomorrow", is at the helm of the new film.

In addition to "Chaos Walking", Holland is set to appear on a couple of films including the much-anticipated Jon Watts-directed Spider-Man reboot, "Spider-Man: Homecoming". Holland will also join Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Shannon in the upcoming period drama "The Current War".

What do you guys think? Have you read the book? Do you think Holland is an ideal casting choice for the role of Todd? As always, you can feel free to drop your thoughts as you chime in the comments section below.
