Anne Rice Plans For A 'Vampire Chronicles' TV Series Adaptation; Film Series Gets Dunked Down The Bin

Bestselling author Anne Rice took to her Facebook page to announce her plans of creating a television adaptation of her beloved "Vampire Chronicles" novels, which include titles such as "Interview With The Vampire" and "The Queen Of The Damned". The decision seems to have come from what she says is the advent of "the new Golden Age of television", adding that the planned film series, which "The Fault In Our Stars" director Josh Boone was supposed to helm, is no more.

She said: "A television series of the highest quality is now my dream for Lestat, Louis, Armand, Marius and the entire tribe. In this the new Golden Age of television, such a series is THE way to let the entire story of the vampires unfold. - My son Christopher Rice and I will be developing a pilot script and a detailed outline for an open ended series, faithfully presenting Lestat's story as it is told in the books, complete with the many situations that readers expect to see. We will likely begin with 'The Vampire Lestat' and move on from there."

Neil Jordan's 1994 film adaptation of the first novel in the series, "Interview With The Vampire", is perhaps the series' most famous entry, but Rice and her team's plan to expand on this obviously didn't pan out. Now that Rice herself announced the move from the big to the small screen, it seems that the project will more likely to come into fruition. Anne and his son, Christopher, will act as executive producers for the show, which, according to Anne, might take on a "Game Of Thrones"-esque fashion.
