Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime: Specs, Design And Performance

Xiaomi releases another entry from their Redmi series of mobile phones. This is the fourth generation model carrying hardware that seems to belong in the higher-end spectrum. The company introduces the Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime and everything about this device seems to sound and look premium, While its $130 price tag keeps it within budget.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime looks

When it comes to mobile phones, aiming for premium usually means metal and glass in its construction. According to GSMArena, the Prime dons a textured-metal body with gently slopes toward its sides. Polished chamfers border the phone's frame while its 2.5D glass display cover also manages a slight curve. The rear panel holds a primary camera centered towards the top, while a fingerprint sensor sits below the shooter. An LED flash flanks the camera's left side.  The Prime's right flank sports a volume rocker and its power button. Its left side appears bare, except for its SIM and microSD expansion slot. The top portion features a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as an IR emitter in the center. The bottom end houses its speaker and mic grilles and a microUSB charging port. The unit is available in gold, dark gray and silver color schemes.

The phone rocks 5-inch IPS panel with a 1080 x 1920 full-HD resolution. It packs enough pixels per area to merit a pixel-density rating of 441ppi. The prime also equips a 3GB RAM, which works in tandem with an octa-core Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 chipset clocking in at 2.0GHz each. Its 32GB internal memory can be expanded through a microSD card (Up to 256GB). A 5-megapixel f/2.2 front-facing camera handles selfies, while a 13-megapixel f/2.2 camera with a dual-tone LED decorates the rear. The phone runs on Android Marshmallow version  6.0.1 with Xiaomi's MIUI 8 interface.

A hefty 4100mAh Lithium-ion battery supplies enough power for almost 30 hours of talk-time. Web browsing and video playback uses up its charge within 20 hours and close to 10 hours respectively.
