NBA News: Stephen Curry Plans To Re-sign With The Golden State Warriors. "It's Hard To See Myself Anywhere Else."

Golden State Warriors' superstar point guard Steph Curry's will become an unrestricted free agent this summer as his contract will expire at the end of this season.  But the Golden State Warriors and its fans don't have anything to worry about.  That's because Steph Curry has said that he will re-sign with the Golden State Warriors and that he can't imagine playing anywhere else.

Steph Curry's current contract is a four year deal for $44 million.  That's the same contract that many people say as the NBA's biggest "bargain contract".  Steph Curry signed that contract, a rookie scale contract extension, before the start of the 2012-2013 season.  At that time Steph Curry has been dealing with a lot of ankle and foot injuries the past few seasons and the Golden State Warriors are not sure of giving Steph Curry a maximum contract owing to his ankle injury history.

Ever since then, Steph Curry has won 2 NBA MVP awards, including the first player to unanimously win an MVP in the history of the NBA, and an NBA Championship.  Just this past year he's become an ALL Star top vote getter and he has helped the Golden State Warriors to the best start in NBA history including an NBA record 73 win in a season.  .  Steph Curry has arguably become the best player in the NBA these past two years.  All of that and the Golden State Warriors are only paying Steph Curry around $12 million a year.

So it's probably safe to say that Steph Curry is due for a substantial raise and for sure he's going get offers from other teams.  But that's not going to get Steph Curry to leave the Golden State Warriors.

From Jason Gay's interview for the Wall Street Journal:

"Although he says "curveballs happen all the time," it should relieve millions of people in the Bay Area that Curry feels that he is home.  "It's hard to see myself anywhere else," he says."

With Steph Curry's status as an elite player, surely the Golden State Warriors are going to offer him the maximum deal, which starts at $28.8 million a year.  Add to that, Kevin Durant is expected to opt out of his contract after this season and will also command a maximum deal that starts at $33.5 million a year.

With two max players, the question now is what will happen to the other free agents like Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and David West.
