To coincide with the release of Star Wars: Rogue One, Star Wars Battlefront will be releaseing its final DLC, Rogue One Scarif later this December. A trailer was released to showcase the DLC's features which will be primarily composed of content from the movie Star Wars: Rogue One.
The four additional maps are set on the tropical planet Scarif and the new playable characters are Jyn Erso and the evil Director Orson Kernic. It includes the Battle of Jakku, Outer Rim, Bespin and Death Star. A new multi stage mode will also be included in the DLC which features both ground and space combat. Glimpses of the new mode can be seen in the new trailer for Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: Scarif DLC.
Rogue One: Scarif will be available on December 6 for those who own the Star Wars Battlefront's season pass. Everyone else who does not have a season pass will be able to purchase the DLC on December 20. Free DLC will also be available for PS4 players on December 6 when Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission will be released. The VR mission will be the first time Star Wars Battlefront will be using VR technology in its game.
Since Rogue One: Scarif is the final DLC for Star Wars Battlefront, DICE can now shift their focus on Star Wars Battlefront 2. Star Wars Battlefront was released back in 2015 and was immediately met with huge success. It can be assumed that DICE has already started working on the next Star Wars Battlefront 2 after the release the success of the first game. But DICE still needed to make more DLCs for Star Wars Battlefront. But now with all DLC's finished for Star Wars Battlefront, DICE can now have the whole studio develop for Star Wars Battlefront 2.
Star Wars Battlefront was praised for the graphics, sound and production value. Its content left a lot to be desired as critics and fans criticized the game's size. Some even consider the base game incomplete while the game and the additional DLCs are the complete package. EA has already promised a bigger Star Wars Battlefront sequel. Fans can only wait if EA sticks to their word as Star Wars Battlefront 2 is expected to be released on Fall 2017.
