'Pokemon Sun and Moon' Latest News & Update: Where to Find Turtonator & How To Catch It

Turtonator is one of the new "Pokemon Go" introduced in Generation 7 in "Pokemon Sun and Moon". It is described as a turtle-like Pokemon spiky shell. It is commonly found near volcanic craters and it catches its prey by camouflaging as a rock.

Its signature move is waiting for a prey to step on its shell and then it quickly swings its tail to its shell to start a powerful explosion. And for players who wish to catch this Pokemon can use this guide to find its habitat and know how to catch it.

Where to Find Turtonator in "Pokemon Sun and Moon"?

Unfortunately, Turtonator's nest is found later in the game and is only exclusive to "Pokemon Sun". However, "Pokemon Moon" players can still acquire it through trading. It lies on the island of Ula'ula which is the fourth island to explore in "Pokemon Sun and Moon". And there is no other way for players to reach the island but to go with the game's story and wait until they are given access to it.

Once the player reaches Ula'ula Island, they just need to go Blush Mountain through Route 12 near the Geothermal Power Plant. There are several tall grass in the area and the player just needs to go around the area couple of times for a chance encounter with Turtonator. According to other players, finding it can take some time, usually 30 minutes to one hour.

Turtonator's Exclusive Move: Shell Trap

One of the reasons that make Turtonator a special Pokemon is because of its exclusive move, Shell Trap. Turtonator automatically learns this move when it reaches level 45. When Shell Trap is used, Turtonator sets up a trap in its shell and will explode if the opponent strikes an attack against it. It's a very powerful offense and defense move at the same time. Players can also upgrade this move in "Pokemon Sun and Moon" to Inferno Overdrive which allows the Pokemon to breathe fire to its target.
