Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will have multiple endings

The next Batman title is heading over to a number of platforms and one of the massively anticipated among them is the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate arriving for Nintendo’s 3DS and PlayStation Vita, and now there’s more new information straight from the studio.

In a recent video interview with the Escapist, director Mark Pacini revealed that the upcoming game will offer 10 hours of game play, while also allowing players to influence the story’s progression, setting things up perfectly for multiple endings.

"It's about a ten hour game first time through. What's interesting is, as we mentioned before that you can defeat the bosses in any order you want, the boss that you leave for last dictates the last half hour of the game," Pacini stated, as scripted by CVG. "The player will get items he couldn't get before based on who he leaves last.”

"You can play the game three times through, get different things each time and the ending is different each time. Along with that we have suits that are only unlockable playing in a certain order. Each suit has a particular perk to it," said Pacini.

“Serving as a 2.5-D ‘companion game’ to the console and PC title, Blackgate will allow players to ‘continue the storyline of Origins and discover more details of the Dark Knight's past,’" said publisher Warner.

“Developer Armature Studios has said that both the 3DS and Vita versions of Blackgate will be powered by a modified version of the Bluepoint Engine used to create PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. The game will be the same on both platforms, except for higher-res assets on Vita and 3D options on 3DS.”

The events of Blackgate are set three months after the events of Arkham Origins, and sees Joker, Penguin and Black Mask each take over a section of the Blackgate prison since bening rocked by a mysterious explosion.

The game will see the meeting of Batman and Catwoman for the first time, while also forging an important relationship with a young, pre-Comissioner Jim Gordon.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will release on PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS on Oct. 25.
