Battlefield 4 open beta kicking off Oct. 1

EA’s upcoming blockbuster Battlefield 4 may be a couple of months away, but it seems like EA doesn’t want its fans to wait long to get a bit experienced.

EA has announced that Battlefield 4 will get its first open beta for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 starting Oct. 1, as revealed via EA’s Peter Moore.

As the official blog post from EA states, fans who have already pre-ordered the Battlefield 4 Origin-exclusive Digital Deluxe Edition will automatically be eligible to receive access to the Battlefield 4 multiplayer beta, alongside in-game bonus items.

The beta access to the new game will also be given to those who had pre-ordered 2012’s Medal of Honor: Warfighter, as well as Battlefield Premium members.

While all this sounds pretty exciting, we are not really sure if the Oct. 1 date is for early access or the public date at this point. This is a bit confusing considering the fact that the open beta was announced at this year’s Gamescom for those who had pre-ordered the game three days ahead of the general public.

EA had already announced the Battlefield 4 Premium pack back in August, while also confirming that members are eligible to receive as many as five themed digital expansion packs – Battlefield 4 China Rising, Battlefield 4 Second Assault, Battlefield 4 Naval Strike, Battlefield 4 Dragon’s Teeth and Battlefield 4 Final Stand. It was also confirmed that members would be offered two-weeks early access to each.

Battlefield 4 is currently scheduled to be released on Oct. 29 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Additionally, Moore has also confirmed the release dates for the next generation versions of three of EA’s upcoming multi-platform games.

“These games on PS3 and Xbox 360 are the pinnacle of this console generation. But, in the case of Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14 and Battlefield 4, they launch well before the next-generation versions hitting a month or two later,” the post states.

“I’m happy to confirm today the street dates for these three titles on next-generation consoles: Nov. 19 (North America)/Nov. 21 (Europe) for Xbox One and Nov. 12 (North America)/Nov. 29 (Europe) for PlayStation 4.”
