Free-to-play RPG Ghosts 'n Goblins Online pulled from Steam Greenlight, no plans for a Western release

After staring at the open Ghost 'n Goblins Online tab in my browser, I figured I'd check the game out given my overdose on GTA V and the game's free price tag. But on refreshing the window, I discovered the game's listing had vanished.

It seems that developer Seed9 never had plans to release the game stateside, and listed the game at Steam in error.

A representative for the company confirmed that the game's Greenlight page had been removed, and confirmed with Polygon that there are currently no plans for a western release, a representative saying, "The Steam Greeenlight page for Ghosts 'n Goblins Online that went live yesterday was wrongly posted by the game's Korean developer, Seed 9, and the page has now been removed." Seems like the game is set to stay in Korea, China, and Taiwan for the time being.

The game first arrived late last year after a 2010 unveiling in Seoul, South Korea.

Here's a list of key features originally on the listing:

A Journey to Rescue the princess: Once upon a time when the dark and the light share the world, one day the princess of Sern Kingdom gets kidnapped by a satanic demon called Red Arima.... And your journey begins to rescue the princess, and humorous and mysterious stories are on the way.

Stunning Action: GHOSTS'N GOBLINS ONLINE offers an extremely instant response time and various visual effects of attack-skills on the push of attack button.

Co-Op Gameplay: Party-up with friends to explore uniquely designed dungeons and secret levels, and socialize in towns!

Demonic Dimension (extreme difficulty): Those who miss the "extreme difficulty" of the original Ghost 'n Goblins should try stages in the Demonic Dimension. Just like the original title, just one hit by a monster makes you almost naked and unarmored, just underwear, but you can still fight until the second hit which takes your life away. Playing in the Demonic Dimension will give you the same exciting and thrilling challenges of the past.

Skill-Based PVP Combat: With all the new skills that you have not seen in the original Ghosts 'n Goblins, you can battle with your friends in matches of up to 6 players at a time (3vs3 or 1vs1 available).

Community Support: Constant updates in more items and dungeons as the world expands, and special events led by GM Livestream play sessions."

It sure sounded like a good time, and I hope Seed9 changes its minds. The last taste American audiences had of anything close to Ghosts 'n Goblins was the short-lived 3D hack n' slashing Maximo series on PlayStation 2 back in the early 2000's.
