With an active player base of 8 million and growing, this newcomer managed to become one of the most successful titles of the year.

Here the giant online communities are not included. The Reddit, Deviant Art groups, the specialized “Overwatch” sites and the hubs of independent art make the game success even when all commercial aspect have been put to the side.

Soon the third competitive season of the games is to begin. As before, players may expect big tournaments, media coverage and tempting prize pools to come, as soon as the new competitive season is released.

Polygon has released a list of all the prizes that “Overwatch” has managed to snatch from The Game Awards. First comes the “Game of the Year Award” for which it defeated legacy titles such as “DOOM” and “Titanfall 2”. “The Best Game Direction” has also been awarded to Blizzard for “Overwatch”. As no surprise the “Best Multiplayer” award goes to it too.
